The main goal of this industrial research project is the development of a technology for heterogeneous single-chip integration of coherent light sources and light modulators based fully on polymer photonics.
The objectives of the project:
Designing and synthesizing light-emitting and nonlinear active organic materials that are active in visible and near-infrared regions.
Development of integrated photonic element fabrication workflows for on-chip lasers and light modulators employing these organic molecules as active elements.
Design and fabrication of fully integrated laser light source and light modulators solely based only on polymers and active organic molecules.
Main activities:
The main activity of the project is industrial research, which will result in: 1) organic compounds which exhibit lasing ability or nonlinear optical properties, 2) workflows of active element fabrication, 3) prototype of single chip integrated coherent light sources and light modulators based fully on polymer photonics 4) Latvian patent application, 5) Scopus indexed scientific publications and 6) presentations in international conferences.
